Nearly $1 Million Worth Of Marijuana Seized By Indio Drug Agents

U.S. inspections agents assigned to the Indio station on Highway 86 said they seized about $950,000 worth of marijuana on Sunday.

At 5:45 a.m., they said a semi-tractor trailer being driven by a 32-year-old male Guatemalan citizen, illegally present in the United States, approached the first inspection area.

It was referred for secondary inspection after a canine team alerted agents

A search of the trailer revealed several duffel bags concealed under a load of corn.

When agents took a closer look, they found marijuana with a total weight of more than 1,100 pounds.

The driver was placed under arrest and was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration along with the marijuana and semi-tractor trailer.
