Red Cross assisting 3 people after fire at home in Desert Hot Springs

Fire crews were able to quickly put out a fire at a home on the 68-000 block of Calle Azteca near Mountain View Rd in Desert Hot Springs. The fire was first reported just before 11:00 am, crews took about 15 minutes to put out the flames.

According to Cal Fire when they arrived on scene a single story, single family residence was on fire with heavy smoke showing. The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire, but the 3 residents who live at the home are displaced due to the damage. The Red Cross has been called in to assist them with lodging.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is under investigation. There were also no injuries reported.
