Accused Cop Killer Pleads ‘Not Guilty’ In Court

An ex-con accused in the ambush-slaying of a Riverside police officer pleaded not guilty today to murder and other charges.

Earl Ellis Green, 44, could face the death penalty if convicted of killing Officer Ryan Patrick Bonaminio near Fairmount Park on Nov. 7.

Green appeared with his attorneys before Riverside County Superior Court Judge Roger Luebs, who set a felony settlement conference in the case for Jan. 21 and tentatively scheduled a Feb. 10 preliminary hearing date.

About a dozen Riverside police officers, including three of the detectives who worked on the investigation, attended the hearing, along with Bonaminio’s father, Joe Bonaminio, who declined to comment.
