House Fire in La Quinta

Fire scorched a La Quinta home Saturday, significantly damaging the structure as fire crews prevented flames from spreading to neighboring houses.

The blaze was reported at 2:59 a.m. on the 77,800 block of Grey Wolf Trail.

One person was injured trying to put out the fire, and three people were displaced due to fire damage, said fire department CalFire spokeswoman Jody Hagemann.

She said the 1,800 square foot dwelling was “25 percent involved” by the time firefighters arrived. 21 firefighters aboard five engines and one ladder truck crew were sent to the fire.

The blaze was contained an under control by 3:37 a.m., and its cause was under investigation.
