DMV Office In Indio Closes For Renovation

A trip to the DMV can wear on your patience. The wait time can be aggravating.

And now this, The Department of Motor Vehicles office in Indio will be closed for the next 8 weeks while it under goes renovations. That means, the only option here in the valley is the DMV office in Palm springs on North Farrel Drive.

Despite the potential to see twice as many customers as usual, when we paid the Palm Springs office a visit, no one was complaining about an extremely long wait. “It was great, I mean I was only here 45 minutes. I usually wait longer at the DMV office in Indio,” said Mariel Lopez who lives in La Quinta.

Martha Hidalgo who lives in Indio also thought she got in and out of the Palm Springs office quickly. “You know what? It wasn’t bad. I was just timing. It was like 1 hour and 15 minutes. No more than that,” said Hidalgo.

Still, in anticipation of increased customer flow, several Indio DMV employees have been assigned to Palm Springs until the Indio office re-opens on January 31 at 8am.

To reduce your wait, the DMV recommends always making an appointment either on-line or by phone at 1-800-777-0133.
