Coachella Fest Line Up Possibly Announced On Radio Tuesday

Music lovers around the country spent the weekend speculating whom they would see at the 2011 Coachella Music and Arts Festival in Indio.

Their speculation isn’t without reason.

Posters have been circulating the internet, being billed as “leaked lineups.” No one will confirm if any of the artists listed on the posters will in fact be at the concerts. Those artists include Duran Duran, Kanye West, The Chemical Brothers, Neil Young and others.

On Twitter, Facebook, and blogs, fans and music journalists discussed how perplexed they were by what appears to be this year’s cryptic manner of announcing some of the bands that will appear at the event.

Each day on Coachella.com, a music video of a different band is posted for an eager audience to watch. Already, fans have seen Phantogram, Tame Impala and Trentemller leading many of them to assume those are the first three acts confirmed.

If that is the case, what about the other 127 bands that typically play at Coachella Fest each year?

KROQ-FM in Los Angeles said the station will let us know.

On the station’s Facebook page on Saturday, the posting was simple: “Coachella is coming, and so is the announcement.”

That lineup announcement may come Tuesday evening. A staff member of KROQ, notorious with listeners for being “blunt” on many topics, @iggnasty tweeted on Saturday that the announcement would come at 5 p.m. on KROQ-FM in Los Angeles. Twitter followers re-tweeted it like wildfire.

That tweet is now gone from his Twitter feed; however, nothing is ever truly deleted. There are remnant conversations we found between @iggnasty and his Twitter followers.

One even challenged him on why he took it down.

“@iggnasty Why did you delete every ‘Coachella announcement’ tweet? Was it a lie? Was it a joke?” asked @marcoslegaspi . “KROQ ask you to delete them to keep the secret? I’m not trying to be rude man 🙂 just wondering if the lineup will be come out this Tuesday, or if I need to kill the hope.”

Residents of the Coachella Valley, ironically, are out of the listening range of KROQ-FM. They can listen to live streaming radio on their website.
