Major Palm Springs Roadways Closed Due To Blowing Sand
Three major roadways were shut down on Sunday by Palm Springs police after rough winds kicked up sand, reducing visibility.
Indian Canyon, Gene Autry Trail and Vista Chino were all closed to traffic by police around 2:30 p.m.
Gusts exceeding 50 miles-per-hour were recorded in the area with sustained winds clocked at around 40 miles-per-hour, according to the National Weather Service.
A wind advisory was in effect for the Coachella Valley until midnight Sunday.
Palm Springs police spokeswoman Melissa Desmarais did not have an estimate of when the roads would re-open.
