Indio’s Avenue 42 Shut Down For Storm Repairs
The city of Indio will close Avenue 42 today for more than a month in order to reconstruct the street, according to the city’s Public Works Department.
The closure will run more than two miles between Jefferson Street and Monroe Street and is scheduled to last until March 3.
Avenue 40 can serve as a detour, according to Grant Eklund, director of the Public Works Department.
Project manager Adrienne Dunfee said the repairs were regularly scheduled maintenance and unrelated to the December rainstorm.
“It was in pretty bad shape,” she said. ”But it was not any recent damage that was sustained”
On Monday, the city re-yopened Avenue 42, which had been closed since that Dec. 21 downpour.
