Small Earthquake Rattles Coachella Valley, Idyllwild

An earthquake measuring 3.0 in magnitude rolled through the Coachella Valley on Wednesday morning, shaking windows and pictures.

The U.S. Geological Survey reports the quake hit at 9:15 a.m. It was centered 18 miles southwest of Palm Springs near Anza.

It was followed by a series of aftershocks, the strongest measuring 2.1 in magnitude at 9:23 a.m..

The USGS first reported three earthquakes had hit at the same moment, two near Anza and one near Idyllwild, all of them 3.0 in magnitude.

Seismologists later reviewed the temblors, and revised their findings to the one earthquake with an epicenter near Anza.

There were no reports of any damage.
