Arrest Made In Overnight Shooting In Desert Hot Springs

A suspect was arrested today for a shooting incident in Desert Hot Springs, police said.

Officers were sent at 3:06 a.m. to a reported assault in the 13000 block of Hacienda Heights Drive. When officers arrived, they discovered that the man who had been shot was already at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, said Sgt. Ken Peary of Desert Hot Spring Police Department.

Authorities later located and arrested Joe Alexander Hernandez, 18.

The shooting victim was expected to survive.

Hernandez was booked into Banning Jail for assault with a deadly weapon and negligent discharge of a firearm.
