Bus Carrying Teens Crashes In San Berardino Mountains, Kills One

A group returning from an outing the San Bernardino Mountains in a bus hit an icy patch along Highway 189, collided head- on with an off-duty firefighter in his own vehicle and plunged off the road, hitting a tree and killing one person inside today.

The bus was emblazoned with “Light of Love Mission Church,” which is in Pasadena, and also had Korean lettering on the side, according to San Bernardino authorities and broadcast reports.

The accident just north of Lake Gregory Drive was reported about 11:50 a.m., prompting a massive response. About two dozen youths were believed to be in the bus.

It was not immediately clear if the group was from the Pasadena church or if the group rented the bus from the church. They reportedly had been at a camp along Highway 189.
