Average Gas Price Hits $4 Per Gallon In Palm Springs
The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire reached the $4 mark for the first time since Aug. 18, 2008 today, increasing four-tenths of a cent to $4.

The fifth consecutive daily increase since Tuesday’s end of a 41-day streak rising prices pushed the average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties 4.7 cents above what it was one week ago, 27.7 cents higher than one month ago and 90.1 cents greater than it was one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is 61.4 cents less than the record high of $4.614 set on June 22, 2008.
The average price rose a half-cent both Wednesday and Thursday, 1.7 cents Friday and 1.9 cents Saturday.
The average price is also above $4 in 11 other regions of the state — Bakersfield, Los Angeles County, Oakland, Orange County, San Diego County, San Francisco, San Jose, San Luis Obispo-Atascadero-Paso Robles, Santa Barbara- Santa Maria-Lompoc, Santa Rosa and Ventura.
The highest average price in the state is in the San Luis Obispo- Atascadero-Paso Robles area, $4.079.
