Indian Canyon Re-Opens After High Winds Shut Down Roadway

Crews with the City of Palm Springs re-opened a stretch of Indian Canyon Drive on Tuesday afternoon after high winds shut down the roadway on Saturday.

Police had set up barricades at the intersection of San Rafael and Indian Canyon and the intersection of Interstate 10 and Indian Canyon to block drivers from the roadway.

The winds coated the roadway with sand making the roads impassible, according to city officials.

Crews arrived around 7 a.m. on Monday to begin the clean up process, but windy weather in the region hampered their efforts until Tuesday afternoon.
