Palm Springs Daycare Opens Despite Tuesday’s Fire

A fire at an unoccupied Palm Springs daycare center caused an estimated $5,000 in damages, a fire department battalion chief said today.

No one was in the A Child’s Place, An Early Education Center, 1534 N. Palm Canyon Drive, when a fire started on the exterior of the building around 10 p.m. Tuesday, Palm Springs Fire Department Battalion Chief Mark Avner said.

Thirteen firefighters put out the flames in 14 minutes and nobody was injured, Avner said.

News Channel 3 learned early Wednesday morning the center would be open for business and continue to care for children.
