Glee’s Jane Lynch To Host Primetime Emmys

Jane Lynch, famed for her work as scheming cheerleader coach Sue Sylvester on the hit series “Glee,” was named today as host of this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony.

The 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards will be held Sept. 18 at the Nokia Theater at L.A. Live.

“We’re delighted to have Jane Lynch host the Primetime Emmys this year,” said John Shaffner, chairman and CEO of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. “When our host has comedic, dramatic and musical talents, as Jane proved in last year’s opening number, we know it’s going to be fun for us and for the audience at home.”

Emmy nominations will be announced July 14.

In addition to her work on “Glee,” Lynch has appeared in series including “Desperate Housewives,” “Weeds” and “The L Word.” She also had recurring roles on “Boston Legal,” “Criminal Minds,” “Two and a Half Men” and “The New Adventures of Old Christine.”

She was nominated for an Emmy for guest actress in a comedy series for her work as Charlie Harper’s therapist on “Two and a Half Men.” She won an Emmy last year for supporting actress for her role as track-suit-wearing Sue Sylvester on “Glee.”

Her film credits include “The 40 Year Old Virgin,” “Space Chimps,” “Alvin and the Chipmunks,” “Role Models” and “Julie & Julia.”

“I am tickled pink to be hosting the Primetime Emmys on Fox,” Lynch said. “I’m looking forward to singing, dancing and sporting my finest track suit.”
