Highway 111 Closed For Repairs

One of the main roadways out of Palm Springs was closed today for road maintenance, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Northbound Highway 111 is blocked off from Tipton Road to Interstate 10 for grading, CHP Officer Donavan Rice said. The work began Thursday.

Motorists can reach the freeway by traveling north on Tipton Road just past the Whitewater River wash.

“You can’t get (to the freeway) on 111, so go on Tipton and it brings you out to the Whitewater area,” Rice said, adding that today’s closure should last until about 4 p.m.

Southbound Highway 111 from the freeway remains open.
