CVUSD Reveals Causes For Superintendent Termination.
Maria Machuca, president of the CVUSD board of trustees, talked about why drastic steps were necessary for Ricardo Medina’s termination and went on by saying:
“The employment agreement of superintendent Ricardo Medina authorizes the governing board to terminate the agreement for cause…Mr. Medina failed to properly perform his job duties. Provided false misleading information to the board district, neglected his duties as superintendent, misused and/or misappropriated district property, persistently violated district board policies and administrative regulations.”
The president of the board also said Mr. Medina did not conduct himself in an appropriate manner amongst other allegations.
Medina was placed on paid administrative leave in January 20th by the board of trustees and said that the board had no reason to do so. He was able to address their decision at last night’s meeting.
“When you spend 30 years in your career and your career vanishes, kind of in an instant…” said Medina, “It certainly leaves you to speculate what the motivations were for that particular action.”
Henry Kraft, Medina’s attorney said to the media the fight is not over and they will most likely file a lawsuit for wrongful discharge.
The board’s decision was reached after a vote of six to one.
