Medicinal Marijuana Dispensary Raided In Beaumont
Law enforcement officers raided a Beaumont medical marijuana dispensary, closing the place for allegedly selling pot in violation of state law and arresting five people.
Arthur Day Moreno, 39, of Yucaipa; Sara Lynn Mudd, 21, of Yucaipa; Jae Hoon John Sihn, 24, of Cherry Valley; Arlene Roseanna Soto, 21, of Beaumont; and Nicole Christine Ward, 19, of Beaumont, were arrested on suspicion of drug- related crimes.
The Oak Tree Alternative at 257 East Sixth St. was the targeted Tuesday afternoon by the Allied Riverside Cities Narcotic Enforcement Team, composed of Riverside County sheriff’s personnel, Beaumont police and officers from surrounding agencies.
Investigators had been monitoring Oak Tree for seven months, culminating in search warrants being served there and at four residences — one in Beaumont, another in Cherry Valley and two in Yucaipa, according to task force commander Brian Link.
Link said investigators found evidence of illegal cannabis sales and cultivation at each of the home, where marijuana and hashish were seized.
Under state law, a medical marijuana dispensary or collective, operating as a nonprofit group, is permitted to provide the drug to individuals who have chronic health disorders and a doctor’s prescription.
Those arrested were booked at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on suspicion of possessing marijuana for sale and conspiracy, according to Link. Mudd was released on her own recognizance, and the others were released on $5,000 bail each, he said.
