Excessive Heat Watch Issued For Coachella Valley
With temperatures expected to hit 113 degrees on Wednesday, the National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat watch for the Coachella Valley and eastern California desert areas.
The watch includes Riverside and Imperial counties in California, as well as the western portion of Arizona.
Temperatures in some areas could reach 115 degrees on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside, said meteorologists. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
** Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
** Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.
** If you wear a wide-brimmed hat…your head and body will be much cooler.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
Above all, heat stroke is an emergency, call 911.
