Perris Restaurant To Make 30 Pound Hamburger

(CNS) – To celebrate its 30th anniversary, the original Farmers Boys restaurant in Perris is planning to serve up a monster 30-pound cheeseburger today.

The Riverside-based Farmer Boys franchise, which started in 1981 with a single eatery at 145-A Ramona Expressway, will offer special deals at all 68 of its restaurants throughout California and Nevada to mark the occasion.

The 30-pound cheeseburger — a pound for each year the chain has been in business — will be unveiled around noon at the Ramona Expressway location. Children’s games, prize giveaways and a visit by the chain’s mascot, Farmer Boy Roy, are also planned. “We invite all of our guests to participate in our 30th anniversary celebration, a milestone in Farmer Boys’ history that they helped make possible through their fantastic support,” said Ken Clark, president of Farmer Boys Food Inc.

According to the company, customers who print out a 99-cent coupon from the Farmers Boys website — www.farmersboys.com — can purchase a cheeseburger at that price at participating Farmer Boys restaurants all day Saturday. The 650-calorie burgers, which include avocados, dill pickles and sliced onion, normally cost $3.39.
