Power Restored To 14,000 Customers In High Desert
Southern California Edison confirmed 14,000 customers in the high desert area of Southern California were without power today as part of an “emergency power outage.”
In a message posted at 1:15 p.m. on the company’s Twitter account, So Cal Edison said, “Emergency outage for 14k+ cust in #JoshuaTree, #MorongoValley, #YuccaValley, #29Palms details 2 come.”
The company’s website shows the outage began around 11:45 a.m., and the restoration time was listed as “TBD (to be determined).”
The website also said workers were testing some of the lines to help limit the number of customers affected.
Spokeswoman Kathy DeRosa told news Channel 3 the power outage was caused by a sub-transmission line being turned off, and crews were trying to find out why it was shut down.
Power was restored to the Landers area around 2 p.m., according to a Twitter follower.
So Cal Edison said all power was restored around 3:20 p.m.
