Small Earthquake Rattles Riverside County

A small earthquake struck northern Riverside County today close to the San Bernardino County line, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The 3.1-magnitude temblor hit at 4:32 a.m. at a depth of 5.6 miles, its epicenter eight miles south of Joshua Tree in San Bernardino County and 11 miles east-northeast of Desert Hot Springs, according to a preliminary computer- generated report.
