Toddler Dies After Coachella Drive-By Shooting

A 2-year-old boy and two men were shot in Coachella Wednesday night after someone shot at a garage from a passing car, while all three were inside.

Riverside County Sheriff’s Capt. Raymond Gregory said the toddler was shot in the head at around 7:20 p.m. at a home on the 84000 block of Rodondo Sur.

Deputy Angel Ramos has confirmed that the child later died at Loma Linda Medical Center.

One of the men was shot in the leg and was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The other man was shot in the torso, but he was treated at the scene and released.

Authorities have not released a motive, or a description of the suspects.

The Riverside County Gang Task Force was at the scene, but authorities have not released whether or not the shooting was gang related.

The relationship between the victims is unknown, but it’s possible they all live at the home or were visiting when they were shot, said Gregory.

Deputies are now searching for the people involved. If you have any information, call the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department or CrimeStoppers at 760-341-STOP.
