3 Men Jailed After Dead Man’s Home Burglarized
Three men were behind bars Friday after deputies linked them to a home that was burglarized, while a 60-year-old man lie dead on the floor.
Riverside County sheriff’s department spokesman Sgt. W. Clear said Joshua Ray Blackwell, 22, and Jennifer Jean Moore, 30, of Hemet, were arrested Tuesday night on suspicion of burglary, conspiracy and receiving stolen property.
Both were being held in lieu of $25,000 bail. Blackwell was held at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, and Moore was detained at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside.
Devin Patrick Szymanski, 20, of Hemet, was arrested on the same allegations, in addition to drug possession, and was being held in lieu of $35,000 bail at the Banning jail.
The trio allegedly ransacked the home of Daniel Gibson, said Clear, stealing various items from the home on the 44000 block of Olive Avenue.
Deputies received an anonymous call on Sunday that there was a dead man in that home, where they later learned the burglary had happened.
They were able to locate the residence, and Gibson’s remains were found Monday morning. The coroner’s preliminary finding is that he died of natural causes, according to a sheriff’s official.
In the ensuing investigation, Blackwell, Moore and Szymanski were identified as suspects in the burglary, though sheriff’s officials did not elaborate. Detectives allegedly located property taken from Gibson’s home in the trio’s possession.
