Missing Indio Woman Returns Home Safely

A 28-year-old Indio woman missing for nearly a week was home today, an Indio police spokesman said.

Yessenia Ruiz’s family told police on Saturday that she had left the house in the 46-300 block of Calle Sonoma on Tuesday, and it was unknown where she was going or when she was planning to return, said Benjamin Guitron of the Indio Police Department.

“The family stated she (had) left before and returned home,” Guitron said.

Officers searched for Ruiz and contacted other family members and friends, without success.

Ruiz’s family called police this morning to report that she had returned home “in good condition” around 11 p.m. Sunday, but where she had spent the past week was a mystery.

“Ms. Ruiz was not forthcoming about her whereabouts. The family and friends were glad she was home,” Guitron said.
