Man Shot In Indio Drive-By

A man in his mid-20s was shot during a drive-by shooting Monday at the intersection of Clinton Street and Miles Avenue in Indio, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The 19 year old victim was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in serious condition.

The shooting happened at around 7:30 p.m.

There was a passenger inside the victim’s car, but the man was not injured, said the Sheriff’s Department.

The sheriff’s department originally responded to the incident because the shooting happened very close to an unincorporated area of Indio. However, the Indio Police Department later took over the investigation.

Witnesses said a truck pulled up to the victims car, just before he was going to turn South on Clinton St. from Miles Ave., and then the suspect opened fire.

The victim stopped his car on the sidewalk near an Arco Gas Station at the intersection, while the suspect sped away from the street, last seen heading West on Miles Ave.

Witnesses described hearing at least six loud gunshots.

Saturday evening a 41-year old man was shot in the neck on the 82-300 block of Valencia, less than a mile from the location of the Monday night shooting. Police say the suspect in Saturday’s shooting is Jesse Martin Gonzalez, a parolee-at-large, who is wanted for assault with a deadly weapon.

If you have information about either shooting, call Valley Crimestoppers at (760) 341-STOP.
