Dog Rescued From I-10 Multi-Vehicle Accident

Riverside Animal Control Service workers helped rescue a dog from the wreckage of a truck involved in a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 10 Friday morning near Indio.

Animal Control officer Gerald Duchene picked up the dog from the site of an accident involving two big rigs and three cars after he was called in by the California Highway Patrol.

“The dog was riding with a big rig trucker,” he said. “We have the dog now; it’s at the Coachella Valley Animal Campus in Thousand Palms.”

Veterinarians were examining the Collie-Chow mix Friday afternoon, who appeared to have no major injuries, but was extremely nervous and out-of-sorts, said Duchene.

“We are caring for her in an isolation area, away from our general population, to keep her more calm,” he said.
