Yucca Valley Wildfire Briefly Threatens Homes

A wildfire that briefly threatened several homes has burned 21 acres of desert land in Yucca Valley.

San Bernardino County Fire Spokeswoman Tracy Martinez said the fire was fully contained by 5:30 Thursday morning.

The fire broke out shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday near Bannock Trail and Onaga Trail on the city’s southwest side. It briefly threatened five homes along the fire’s northern edge.

Martinez said the fire no longer threatened any homes and residents were not evacuated.

Martinez said 100 firefighters were assigned to fight the fire overnight. She said rising humidity levels and calmer winds that blew the fire erratically during the day should help firefighters contain the blaze.

No injuries have been reported.

Fire investigators were looking for some juveniles seen running away from the area. If you have information, call the San Bernardino County Fire Department at 909-356-3805.
