Indio man convicted of killing girlfriend’s toddler
An Indio man was convicted today of second-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend’s 17-month-old daughter.
Anthony Pacheco, 27, was also convicted of assaulting a child with great bodily injury for the Oct. 25, 2008, death of Mya Whitman.
The child was declared brain dead and removed from life support four days after being brought to Loma Linda University Medical Center, with bruises on her head, arms and legs.
Pacheco faces 25 years-to-life in prison when he appears for his sentencing on July 27 at the Larson Justice Center in Indio.
