Hot hotel summer deals sweep the valley
Resort pools, lavish dining and luxurious spa packages are something we have year round in the desert. However, the prices split when the crowd does, making the experience that much sweeter.
“The people that do live here year round, it’s great to have that bargain that makes you want to go out more because you know you’re getting a good deal,” Palm Desert resident Karen MacDonald said.
Staycations are popular when you live in paradise.
“Check out of their house, grab the kids or just the adults, use someone else’s air conditioning and shower, and enjoy it inexpensively,” the Hyatt Grand Champions General Manager Allan Farwell said.
“The higher end places, it does make it accessible to the working class person,” MacDonald said.
For example, the Ace Hotel — a Palm Springs hot spot that seems to never sleep.
“We continue throughout the whole summer with our programming every night. Dj’s, bingo on Tuesdays, karaoke on Wednesdays,” the Ace Hotel General Manager Jason Dibler said. “Next week we have ‘For the Record’, a huge cabaret show. They’re doing Quentin Tarantino’s entire film series.”
The hotel also offers a nice price tag on rooms if you want a call it a night right there.
“Monday through Thursday, $100 a night. That includes a bucket of beer, and $25 off your spa treatment,” Dibler said.
Over in Indian Wells, another great offer at the Hyatt Grand Champions.
“We offer guest rooms on week nights as low as $79,” Farwell said. “Our restaurant, Lantana, where we just introduced our summer menu, we’re offering 20% off all the menu items on there.”
“Sixty minute, full hour massages, as low as $89,” Farwell added.
Another desert summer deal, according to the hotel’s website, is at the Saguaro in Palm Springs. The Saguaro Spa Escape offers, for $149, a modern desert room stay and a $150 spa credit.
Despite people who say the desert gets deserted for the next few months..
“I don’t think everyone’s gone anymore. It’s really interesting, the three years I’ve been here, people have been staying longer and longer,” Dibler said.
“I think people appreciate the fact that you can drive here from LA or Orange County or San Diego, one tank of gas,” Farwell said.
Those who call the desert their home 365 days a year say they especially love these cool prices.
“It rewards you for living in triple digits,” MacDonald said.
As though you need to twist arms to live here….
