Charges filed against Desert Hot Springs murder suspect
A murder charge was filed today against a 36-year-old Desert Hot Springs man accused in the shooting death of a Whittier man.
La Von Albert Myers allegedly shot Ronald Locke, 46, at 8:40 p.m. June 26 at an apartment in the 68000 block of Calle Azteca in Desert Hot Springs.
Locke was pronounced dead at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs an hour after the shooting.
Myers, who was scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon at the Larson Justice Center in Indio, turned himself in on June 30.
No motive for the shooting was released, but Desert Hot Springs police said it was not gang-related.
Myers was being held at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning in lieu of $1 million bail.
