Coachella shooter holds store clerk hostage
Around 9:00 Monday night, there was a shooting at the TA Travel Center on Dillon in Coachella.
An employee called police saying there was a suspicious person inside TA.
The suspect fired 3 shots inside the store, and people started running out.
Police arrived and found the suspect behind the counter holding a clerk hostage, who the suspect released without incident. There were no injuries.
The suspect is in custody.
Witnesses say the suspect never actually demanded money, so police aren’t calling this a robbery.
