Odor blankets the Coachella valley

News Channel 3 has new information on an odor around the Coachella Valley, apparently coming from the Salton Sea.

A woman at the North Share Yacht Club says there’s a “green tide,” which is an algae bloom in the water. That could be the source of the smell along with a fish die-off that happened last week.

There were thousands of fish in the harbor and along the shore.

Meanwhile, the Salton Sea Authority told News Channel 3 Tuesday, it’s going to release $5,000 to the Department of Fish and Game to help clean-up the fish die-off.

It’ll take some time. That money won’t be released until after a September 27 board meeting.
