Car crashes into home

A La Quinta man is facing DUI charges after causing a mess in the La Quinta Cove.

It happened near the intersection of Calle Colima and Avenida Navarro just before five Sunday night.

A driver failed to stop at a stop sign colliding into another vehicle.

The second vehicle crashed into the garage of a home.

Sheriff’s deputies say the driver, 28 year-old Thomas Mead, ran into a house but later came out and admitted his involvement in the crash to officers.

Mead is accused of driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

The accident caused some pretty bad damage to the unoccupied home.

Firefighters used wood shoring to prevent it from collapsing.

One person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Mead will be booked into the banning jail.
