Palm Desert man arrested after break-in

A 22-year-old parolee suspected in several PalmDesert residential break-ins was arrested today.

Someone reported a burglary around 10 p.m. Thursday in the 40700 blockof Sandpiper Court. The suspect, later identified as Francisco Granados of PalmDesert, allegedly tried to smash a rear sliding glass door, then ran into anearby residence in the 40900 block of Sandpiper, sheriff’s Sgt. Brad Farwellsaid.

Granados then allegedly smashed a rear sliding glass door at a residencein the 100 block of Courtside Drive. The homeowner, who was armed, confrontedGranados, who allegedly dropped a “realistic looking” pellet gun as he ranaway, Farwell said.

Deputies tracked down Granados in a nearby parking lot and arrested himabout 1:30 a.m. He was booked into the county jail in Indio on suspicion ofburglary and violating parole and was held without bail.
