Idyllwild Arts Foundation to honor prominent film composer

The Idyllwild Arts Foundation will honor film composerHans Zimmer at its annual scholarship gala next month, the organizationannounced today.

Zimmer and longtime Idyllwild Arts board member Earl Fisher will receivethe Life in Art Award on April 14 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in LosAngeles. The gala raises money for scholarships for students who attendIdyllwild Arts Academy and Summer Program in the San Jacinto Mountains,according to Idyllwild Arts spokeswoman Lydia Kremer.

Zimmer won Academy Award for best original score for “The Lion King”in 1995 and has also won Tony Awards, Grammys and Golden Globes. He has scoredmore than 100 films, including “Rain Man,” “Driving Miss Daisy,””Gladiator” and “The Dark Knight Rises.”

Fisher helped create Idyllwild Arts Academy in the mid 1980s and servedas board president for many years, according to Kremer.
