CVUSD students warned about couple trying to lure children, sheriff releases statement

According to Coachella Valley Unified School District, parents were given a warning today about a man and a woman who might be trying to lure students into their car.

The Riverside County Sheriff released this statement on the incident:

“On 04-03-13 at about 8:30 AM, a 14 year-old kid and two friends were walking to Bobby Duke Middle School in Coachella. A couple (male and female) in a blue, older model Range Rover with chrome rims, approached the victims. The couple asked the victims if they knew anyone wanting a ride to San Bernardino and if so, they would get $100. The boys advised they did not and the couple offered the victims a ride to San Bernardino. The victims declined the offer and the couple in the Range Rover drove away.At this time we do not believe this incident is related to the La Quinta incidents.”

Parents are being warned to tell their kids to be on the lookout for the blue Range Rover and call police immediately if they are approached.
