One in custody after deadly Yucca Valley shooting

A Yucca Valley murder suspect was in custody Friday after law enforcement officers were called to a neighborhood on the city’s east side.

Brian Cline, 19, was taken into custody by San Bernardino County Sheriffs Deputies Thursday afternoon as they searched the 58000 block of Paxton Road, in Yucca Valley.

Deputies say they found Cline hiding on the roof of a residence.

Police were called shortly before 1:30 p.m. Thursday about a shooting in the area of Barron Drive and Hermosa Avenue just north of the Twentynine Palms Highway near Yucca Mesa Road.

Deputies found Martin Reyes there suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Reyes was rushed to the High Desert Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Witnesses described a Hispanic man seen leaving the area immediately after the shots were fired.

Deputies began an extensive search of the immediate area to find him.

Cline was taken into custody and transported to the Morongo Basin jail, where he was booked for murder.

The investigation is still ongoing.
