After 25 years, Indio will finally get a new hotel
Indio City officials and developers will break groundFriday on a Holiday Inn, the city’s first hotel in more than 25 years, a cityspokesman said today.
Developer Howard Parks anticipates the planned 89-room hotel beingoperational in about nine months, city spokesman Chris Escobedo said.
“The development of a new hotel will serve as a driving force forinvestment, job creation, and new opportunities for our city,” Indio MayorElaine Holmes said. “The addition of a new hotel will boost city revenuesthrough the collection of transient occupancy tax of guests who will stayovernight in the hotel.”
Park will join Indio city officials and members of the Coachella ValleyEconomic Partnership, Coachella Valley Enterprise Zone, Indio Chamber ofCommerce and Cabazon Band of Mission Indians at the groundbreaking, set for 11a.m. Friday at at 84-096 Indio Springs Drive.
