More than 1,450 pot plants discovered in homes

More than 1,450 marijuana plants were discovered duringsearches of two unoccupied Eastvale homes, but no arrests were made, asheriff’s sergeant said today.

Members of a sheriff’s task force received a tip about the homes duringan investigation into pot-growing operations in Eastvale, Riverside Countysheriff’s Sgt. Justin Rowan said.

At 4 p.m. Wednesday, deputies served a search warrant at a Harrow Streethome and found more than 850 plants, along with digital scales, packagingmaterials and a half-pound of processed pot.

Two hours later, deputies served a warrant at a home on Running DeerCircle, where more than 600 pot plants, digital scales and packaging materialswere found. Electricity at both homes was being bypassed around the meter,amounting to a combined total of $7,000 a month in stolen electricity, Rowansaid.

It was not known how long the operations had been in place, but Rowansaid the homes were modified solely to grow, process and package marijuana.
