Palm Springs doctor pleads not guilty to sexual battery charges

A Palm Springs doctor accused of groping an 18-year-oldfemale volunteer at the clinic where he worked pleaded not guilty today to fivecounts of sexual battery.

The misdemeanor charges were filed against 66-year-old Daniel GlywnWalters, M.D., Friday. He remains free on $3,500 bail.

Walters entered his plea by way of his attorney before Riverside CountySuperior Court Judge Otis Sterling, who set a pretrial conference in the casefor May 21.

The defendant was arrested March 7 at his workplace, SleepWise Sleep andBehavioral Medicine Center at 1801 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way, according to thePalm Springs Police Department.

The alleged victim, whose identity was not released, contacted police,alleging that Walters had “committed sexual battery upon her” on March 5 and6 while she volunteered at SleepWise, according to a police statement.

The statement didn’t elaborate on the alleged offenses.

The woman started volunteering at the center on March 4, police said.
