GG’s Island Restaurant fire ruled arson

The fire that shut down GG’s Island Restaurant in January 2012 has been ruled arson, according to Cal Fire investigators.

The case is still open pending further investigation. No arrests have been made.

Huge flames engulfed the famous GG’s Island Restaurant early last year, destroying the Coachella Valley landmark.

Also, Friday we learned that former GG’s owner Craig Marlar, who also owned Bananaz Bar and Grill, committed suicide in Las Vegas. The Clark County Coroner’s office confirmed that Marlar hanged himself on April 17th.

Authorities haven’t made a connection between Marlar’s death and the fire investigation.
