Police searching for PS man accused of assaulting brother-in-law, stealing sister’s car

Police in Cathedral City are searching for a man they believe assaulted his brother-in-law with a hammer Tuesday evening.

Just before 6 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to 911 calls from Lagos Court inside Desert Princess Country Club. When they arrived, a man was found with serious head injuries as a result of an assault.

Apparently, Lee James McGrail, 44 of Palm Springs, forced his way into his 51-year-old sister’s home and confronted her with a hammer.

“He threatened to kill her,”said a spokesman for theCathedral City Police Department in a press release,”then assaulted her 62-year-old husband, striking him with the hammer.After attacking his brother-in-law, McGrail stole his sister’s white 2012 four-door Toyota Camry (CA lic. 6XTE000), and fled the area, exiting on a golf cart path.”

McGrail is described as Caucasian male, 6′ 2″, 280-300 pounds, brown hair, green eyes and last described as having a goatee.
