Local gas prices on the decline

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire decreased today for the third consecutive day following a 13-day streak of increases, falling nine-tenths of a cent to $4.071.

The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties is 6.3 cents more than one week ago, 5.4 cents higher than one month ago and 29.3 cents greater than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price fell four-tenths of a cent Tuesday and seven-tenths of a cent Wednesday after rising 13.5 cents over the previous 13 days.

The dropping pump prices follow a sharp decrease in the price of wholesale gasoline since last Thursday, Marie Montgomery Nordhues of the Automobile Club of Southern California told City News Service.
