Man threatens to burn down house with girlfriend inside

A Banning man poured gasoline in his house, locked hisgirlfriend inside, then threatened to it on fire, police said today.

Amador Dean Bates, 37, was arrested in a foot chase near the home in the900 block of West Cottonwood Road Sunday night.

Banning police got a report of what was happening about 9:55 p.m.Sunday, according to Banning police who said Bates said “he was going to setthe residence on fire with his girlfriend trapped inside.”

Police forced the door open and found the woman unharmed, then chaseddown Bates on foot, according to a department statement.

Bates was booked at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banningand posted $5,000 bond on Monday, according to jail records.
