Local men connected to Vanderbilt rape case due in court

One of two Coachella Valley men indicted in connectionwith the alleged rape of an unconscious Vanderbilt University woman in adormitory is due in a Riverside courtroom today for an extradition hearing.

Joseph Dominick Quinzio, 20, of Palm Desert, is being held without bailat the Southwest Detention Center, as is co-defendantMiles Joseph Finley, 19, of Bermuda Dunes. Finley is expected in court onTuesday at the Larson Justice Center in Indio, according to jail and courtrecords.

Both men were arrested by Riverside County sheriff’s deputies on Fridaynear their homes on warrants issued in Tennessee charging them with felonycounts of tampering with electronic evidence, according to Nashville police.

Finley and Quinzio are former teammates of Brandon Vandenburg, 20, anIndio native charged with aggravated rape and aggravated sexual battery.Vandenburg and three other men are accused of sexually assaulting anunconscious 21-year-old student on June 23.

Finley, Quinzio and Vandenburg all attended Xavier College Preparatory High School in Palm Desert and played football there, according to The Desert Sun.

Finley and Quinzio are among three people indicted Friday in Nashville, police there said. Vanderbilt wide receiver Chris Boyd, 21, is charged with one felony count of being an accessory after the fact, according to Nashville police.

Nashville Police Chief Steve Anderson said Friday that detectives were looking at everyone who may have had some involvement in the rape, before, during and after the fact.
