World’s Championship Chili Cook-off makes it’s debut in Palm Springs this weekend

Spa Resort Casino in Palm Springs will host the 47th annual World’s Championship Chili Cook-off this weekend.

The three-day event runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday and will feature 400 competitors, 50 vendors and food trucks along with live music on two stages.

The event is sanctioned by the International Chili Society. Cooks will compete in four categories — traditional red chili, chili verde, salsa and homestyle.

Proceeds from the cook-off will be donated to the Mizell Senior Center in Palm Springs, the Pegasus Riding Academy for the Handicapped in Palm Desert and the Palm Springs USO.

Tickets will be sold at the door — general admission is $15 and VIP tickets are $50. Children under 12 are free. For information, go to www.worldschampionshipchili.com.
