Triple Digits Hold Stead Well Into Next Week

High pressure continues strengthening over Southern California, keeping the Coachella Valley hot and dry through the weekend and much of next week. We bumped up the numbers to 105 today!

Highs remain near 100 degrees today and through the weekend—about 4–6 degrees above average—while communities west of the mountains face more extreme, potentially record-setting heat.

Gusty northeast winds are also possible near the San Gorgonio Pass and along the I-10 corridor, especially through Saturday, increasing fire weather concerns as humidity remains low. A Wind Advisory is in effect for the passes and Desert Hot Springs from 6am-6pm Saturday.

While this weekend marks the peak of the heat for areas closer to the coast, valley temperatures are actually expected to climb even higher next week, reaching nearly 10 degrees above our seasonal average. There are hints high pressure could weaken late next week, but confidence is still pretty low on exact timing for when cooling will arrive.
