SafeHouse of the Desert Launches ‘Stuff the Bus’ donation drive

SafeHouse of the Desert in Thousand Palms is using a school bus to help raise donations in its effort to help teens in crisis.

The bus is located in the parking lot at Target at the Desert Crossings Mall in Palm Desert.

The idea is to ‘Stuff the Bus’ full of donated items like toiletries and household items that SafeHouse clients can use on a daily basis.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, a partner in the donation drive works closely with the SafeHouse. It’s where deputies can take runaways or kids living in an unsafe environment.

“It’s a great program. It keeps them off the street, it keeps them out of drugs, it keeps them in school,” said Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputy Sean Patrick. “They have job placement, it’s everything the community needs for these kids in crisis.”

The “Stuff the Bus” drive runs through Nov. 6. You make donations between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m., or you can drop off items after hours in boxes next to the bus.
