Charity groups provide Thanksgiving meals for thousands in Coachella Valley

All across the Coachella Valley, thousands of people enjoyed Thanksgiving meals thanks to the generosity of many charity and church groups.

In Palm Springs, volunteers served up hundreds of lunch time meals at the First Baptist Church and the Fellowship Hall at the United Methodist Church of Palm Springs.

Thanksgiving dinners were also dished out at the Christian Center in Desert Hot Springs, and Bridges of Hope teamed up with Food Now to provide all of the holiday trimmings to many families in the area.

The Salvation Army continued its tradition and served up hundreds of meals at The Dick and Beverly Davis Corps Community Service. Bridges of Hope also provided meals this year at Big Mama’s Soul Food on Palm Canyon Drive near the Imax theater in Cathedral City.

In Rancho Mirage, The Unitarian Universalist Church of the Desert was on hand to dish up several meals as well.

And continuing with tradition, the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission served an early breakfast and then a Thanksgiving feast later in the day. Many people we spoke with were grateful that these groups provide food for so many people that would otherwise go without it on this holiday.
